Channels in GudHub let you communicate with multiple users at once in a shared chat. Unlike direct messages, which are intended for one-on-one conversations, channels bring several participants together in a single chat. This is useful when you need to discuss work-related topics or exchange messages with multiple colleagues at the same time.

### Step 1. Open the chat [#](https://gudhub.com/tutorials/working-with-chat/creating-channels/#step-1-open-the-chat)

On the system's main screen, open the chat window. Here, you can access your direct messages, view your existing groups, and manage your channels. ![scr1](https://gudhub.com/assets/images/tutorials/working-with-chat/creating-channels/scr1-88b910ff69.png "null")

### Step 2. Open the “Channels” tab [#](https://gudhub.com/tutorials/working-with-chat/creating-channels/#step-2-open-the-channels-tab)

In the chat window, select the **“Channels”** tab. Your existing channels will appear here. If you haven't created any channels yet, the list will be empty.

To create a new channel, click the **“+”** button and select **“Create channel”**. ![scr2](https://gudhub.com/assets/images/tutorials/working-with-chat/creating-channels/scr2-992227048c.png "null")

### Step 3. Enter a channel name [#](https://gudhub.com/tutorials/working-with-chat/creating-channels/#step-3-enter-a-channel-name)

In the window that opens, enter a name for your new channel. Choose a clear, descriptive name that will help you and other participants easily identify the channel in the list.

Once you've entered the name, click **“Create Channel"** to create the channel. ![scr3](https://gudhub.com/assets/images/tutorials/working-with-chat/creating-channels/scr3-ff6600b220.png "null")

### Step 4. Add participants [#](https://gudhub.com/tutorials/working-with-chat/creating-channels/#step-4-add-participants)

Once the channel is created, it will open automatically. The next step is to add the users you want to communicate with.

To do this, click **“Add people”**. A list of users who can be added to the channel will appear. ![scr4](https://gudhub.com/assets/images/tutorials/working-with-chat/creating-channels/scr4-d83a266148.png "null")

### Step 5. Select users to add to the channel [#](https://gudhub.com/tutorials/working-with-chat/creating-channels/#step-5-select-users-to-add-to-the-channel)

Find the users you want to add in the list and select them to include them in the channel. ![scr5](https://gudhub.com/assets/images/tutorials/working-with-chat/creating-channels/scr5-0da9234255.png "null") **Important:** You can only add users who belong to at least one group in GudHub.

For more information, see our separate guides on [creating groups in GudHub](https://gudhub.com/tutorials/sharing-apps/creating-groups/) and [inviting users to groups through chat](https://gudhub.com/tutorials/sharing-apps/inviting-through-chat/).

### Step 6. Check the participant list [#](https://gudhub.com/tutorials/working-with-chat/creating-channels/#step-6-check-the-participant-list)

Once you've added users to the channel, the number of participants will appear below the channel name. This makes it easy to see how many people are part of the shared chat. ![scr6](https://gudhub.com/assets/images/tutorials/working-with-chat/creating-channels/scr6-d45e5048a1.png "null") Your channel is ready! You can now use it to communicate with the users you've added.

Create channels for different work-related discussions, give them clear names, and add the relevant users to keep communication organized in GudHub.
